The Whitefangedwolf's Lair

I'm appreciating my life a lot more. I had a scare Halloween evening when the car I was riding in was struck by another vehicle. Amazingly, I was the only one who received significant injuries and the injuries I received have been healing up well. The meds I've been taken have made me a bit loopy and made focusing on writing challenging but they do provide for nifty dreams. Anyway, it's great being alive!

The best reason for not writing in a journal is that one is too busy living. That's why I seem to have fallen off the internet for three weeks.

I spent two weeks on an key set of essays. The process of writing them was the smoothest I've experiences as far as essays go, but the editing and correcting of them consumed the writing portion of my brain. The effort was worthwhile; I received full points for the essays.

After that I spent a weekend with my grandparents. The older I get, the more I realize how I don't know how much time I'll have to spend with my grandparents. It make the time we get to spend together seem more valuable.

Last week was spent repainting the main living area of the house in preparation for the holiday season and my brother's family's visit. I love the name of the new wall color: toasted cashew. It sure beats the white the walls were before.

My brother, his wife, and son arrived Tuesday morning at around midnight. It's great to see my nephew in person for the first time. They'll be around for two weeks, so we'll get to spend some good time together.

My life appears to have shifted back down to normal for the near future. I'll enjoy the slower pace. I'm glad to be writing entries again.

Today I've been finding items that I've searching for for while.

I finished the first drafts of a couple of college papers.

It's finally feeling like autumn. It's dark later in the morning and earlier in the evening. The early morning and late evening are brisk and nippy. My dad decided to remove the air conditioner from the dining room window today. I'm glad that autumn's back.

It's good to know that I'm still able to get up way earlier than usual when necessary and still be bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.

Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence.
Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent.
Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb.
Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.
The slogan "Press on" has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.
— Calvin Coolidge

Sometimes life has a way of tangling up your plans and then looking at you cutely so that you realize your plans weren't so important after all.
